Zusammenfassung:Gross motor vital for the integral development of boys and girls, since it is related, especially, to all the movements that coordinately the child performs with small and large muscle groups. These allow to evidence the skills acquired in the other areas that constitute the fundamental basis for the improvement of the cognitive and language area, so that it is essential to motivate this development with traditional games. Their evolution throughout the first years of school should be carefully analyzed to inform the family of the capacities and difficulties of their children, as well as their progress. With this background, the research work "The traditional games in the development of the gross motor skills of boys and girls of the first level in the Educational Unit" Federico González Suárez ", Canton Alausi, province of Chimborazo period of 2016", makes it possible to evidence problem regarding the poor development of gross motor skills in children of this center. If these skills are not developed children are affected, both in their student life and their social life making them slow children to learn which harms their selfesteem since they become distant and lonely children, preventing their normal and integral improvement. The design is non-experimental research, type of laboratory investigation. This study was carried out retrospectively, aiming to develop the gross motor and motor coordination. At the same time, it was pretended to rescue the cultural identity through traditional games that, in addition to motivating learning, amuse and entertain. The proposed activities led to greater confidence and gross motor skills development. The population consisted of a total of 30 male and female students. The data were obtained through direct observation which allowed to demonstrate students after the application of the activities proposed in the alternative guideline greatly improved their motor skills. The accomplishment of the objective was confirmed through the tabulation, analysis, interpretation of the results and the application of the statistical test of Chi Square. It is possible to be said that with the use of traditional games many skills have been developed. Reason why it is recommended its use in other students of similar ages as support to early education.
