Summary:Hippotherapy is a meaningful technique in physical rehabilitation, psychological, social and cognitive and be supplemented by other techniques leads to improve the physiotherapy deficiencies in children with neurological disorders. It can stimulate the developmentof psychomotor skills in children with Down Syndrome through neurophysiological parameters, biomechanical and psycho-evolutionary that help stimulste the growth of physical abilities, language and personality. According to this, the goal that was raised for research was analysis of the benefits and effects of the HIPPOTHERAPY in the treatment of psychomotor development of children with Down syndrome. It was made a study of articles published since the year 2011 to 2018 wich analyzed the application of hippotherapy in children with Down Syndrome and the selection of the same was of differente scientific databases getting 15 investigations for the study. Those were evaluated employing the scale of PEDro, mainly using articles with a score equal to or higher than five within this scale. As a result, it was observed that HIPPOTHERAPY to be complemented by other techniques physiotherapy could be an effective treatment and beneficial, in addition that promote a cognitive, physical and psychic, so also improves coordination, increases muscle strength, improves balance, improves joint movement, self-perception, health and overall quality of life of children with Down Syndrome
