Propuesta de lineamientos para la puesta en valor del patrimonio edificado del centro histórico de Ambato.

Over the past few decades, conservation and management practices for building heritage in Ambato's historic center have lacked a comprehensive approach to its preservation. In particular, the limited presence of strategies aimed at enhancing its value has led to a decline in the recognition of its symbolic, cultural, architectural, and aesthetic values. Therefore, the objective of this research was to generate guidelines for enhancing the value of the city's cultural heritage, with the aim of promoting a comprehensive revival of the historic center based on its cultural assets and the diverse expressions that inhabit it. The methodology employed was qualitative, involving the compilation of observation sheets, interviews with specialists, and case studies of good management practices in historic centers in countries such as Cuba, Mexico, Ecuador, and the Czech Republic. Subsequently, after the preliminary development of the strategies, a focus group technique was applied, comprised of professionals, specialists, and academics, to obtain multidisciplinary feedback on the proposals. The resulting proposal was conceived as an input that would contribute to the revaluation of Ambato's historic center and, consequently, enhance the quality of life of its inhabitants, based on criteria of awareness and preservation of the city's heritage value.
