Crynodeb:In Ecuador, despite regulatory progress regarding disability, people continue to face significant barriers to fully participating in tourism, both as tourists and in their labor participation. This study focuses on the Pallatanga canton, province of Chimborazo, and seeks to analyze the relationship between people with disabilities and the tourism sector, identify limitations, and propose improvement strategies. The research uses an observational and correlational approach, with surveys of people with disabilities and tourism service providers. The results show unsatisfactory participation, with many respondents reporting unsatisfactory experiences related to accessibility and available opportunities. Essential barriers were identified, such as the need for more adequate infrastructure and low awareness of tourism staff. The conclusions suggest that, although there is a moderate correlation between the participation of people with disabilities and the tourism sector, this is not statistically significant. It is recommended that tourism infrastructure be improved, staff be trained in inclusive care, and a culture of respect towards those with disabilities be promoted to make tourism in Pallatanga more accessible and equitable.
