Factores asociados a hipoglucemia en neonatos a termino y pretermino. Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín año 2020

ABSTRACT We can define neonatal hypoglycemia as the alteration of the average value of glucose in the newborn, below its standard value of 45 mg/dl, due to various internal and external factors. The WHO announces a rate of neonatal hypoglycemia that ranges from 10 to 20 per 1000 live births. In Ecua...

সংক্ষিপ্ত:ABSTRACT We can define neonatal hypoglycemia as the alteration of the average value of glucose in the newborn, below its standard value of 45 mg/dl, due to various internal and external factors. The WHO announces a rate of neonatal hypoglycemia that ranges from 10 to 20 per 1000 live births. In Ecuador, a study carried out was at the Dr. Teodoro Carbo Guayaquil, which indicates a prevalence of 4.6% of newborns who presented this pathology. The most frequent cause found is hyperinsulinism, closely linked to children of mothers with poorly controlled diabetes, followed by prematurity and intrauterine growth restriction. In addition, hypoglycemia can be clinically asymptomatic and symptomatic. Another classification is, according to time, initial transitory in the first seven days of life and persistent after seven days of life. The most frequently encountered symptoms are frequent: hypotonia, paleness, apnea, poor sucking reflex, weak crying, vomiting, and irritability, for which the diagnosis is made with a blood glucose value less than or equal to 45 mg/dl. Within the treatment, the cause for which neonatal hypoglycemia is occurring should be assessed. Most of all, take into account the gestation time at birth to take the appropriate therapeutic measures. Key words: Hypoglycemia, term newborns, preterm.
