Identificación y análisis del arte religioso de Villa la Unión, del cantón Colta provincia de Chimborazo

The works of religious art made by artisans during the colonization is a legacy that is expressed in the churches, images, canvases, altars, pulpits and religious furniture that are still found in the parishes of Cajabamba and Sicalpa after the earthquake that occurred in 1797. However, works of art were vulnerable and over time they tend to degrade, destroy or get lost. That is why nowadays one of the problems that society faces worldwide is the loss of cultural heritage and with it the loss of identity since cultural heritage provides historical and cultural values for every nation. The characterization of the state of conservation of the religious art works existing in the Cajabamba and Sicalpa parishes, also known as Villa la Unión, has allowed us to find valuable information in relation to the religious works of art and the social, cultural and traditional manifestations that are the fundamental axis for the tangible and intangible heritage of the Colta canton and of Ecuador. The methodology allowed to analyze the current state of religious art works where it was possible to show that a large part of these works were in good condition but there were also works of art that need attention, restoration is necessary for their conservation, revision bibliography of the archives of the municipal GAD of Colta, libraries, books, magazines allowed to obtain good results such as updating the historical memory of this canton.
