| 總結: | The railway system has historically been a structuring element for the economic, social, and urban development of intermediate cities. In Ecuador, the railway promoted regional integration and interaction between urban centers; however, its disuse has led the railway axis of Riobamba to a condition of physical obsolescence, environmental contamination, insecurity, and a pronounced disconnection from territorial dynamics. In response to this scenario, contemporary urbanism promotes the intervention of railway corridors with the aim of physically articulating the city, integrating urban voids, encouraging densification processes, generating high-quality public spaces, and revaluing existing infrastructure. This research developed an urban intervention proposal for the section between Avenida La Prensa and Saint Amand Montrond Street, proposing a replicable strategy for the entire railway axis. To achieve this, a theoretical review of road networks and territorial voids was conducted, along with an urban analysis of the current interaction between the railway, the city, and the neighborhood, and a study of reference projects that allowed the definition of design guidelines with proven support. The methodology was mixed, combining neighborhood interviews and urban indicators, whose results demonstrated improvements in accessibility, public space, and integration, thereby validating the feasibility of the proposal. |
