description Dental erosion is a disease that is becoming more common in pediatric dentistry, altering the aesthetics and function of teeth. The etiology of this disease is influenced by factors of extrinsic sources related to lifestyle, or intrinsic sources due to to general disorders of the patient. The aim of this work was to identify which were the main extrinsic and intrinsic factors that were most frequently associated with dental erosion in pediatric patients, for this purpose the information was searched in prestigious scientific bases such as Google Scholar, Pubmed, Scielo, Elsevier, between 2009 and 2019, taking into account that the articles comply the inclusion and exclusion criteria, as well as requirements such as the ACC index, and the impact factor of the journal in which the articles were published in SJR. A total of 90 articles were determined after a rigorous selection, 63 articles were obtained for the development of this review and additionally 27 for different sections of the present work. The result of the interaction of all the factors is evidenced in the loss of hard dental tissue, which can be serious for some groups that are more vulnerable, and which are the upper front teeth the most affected. So in this way it could be concluded that due to its multifactorial etiology and the association with other dental pathologies such as enamel hypoplasia and cavities become more complex to diagnose, prevent and treatment of the disease.

So in this way it could be concluded that due to its multifactorial etiology and the association with other dental pathologies such as enamel hypoplasia and cavities become more complex to diagnose, prevent and treatment of the disease.
