Add Tag | Summary: | This research work aimed to analyze the perceptions that Riobamba residents have about the impacts of tourism in the canton. The chosen methodology was qualitative-quantitative, a structured questionnaire was used as a technique to collect information from 383 residents as a sample, with the data obtained a factorial analysis and a multiple linear regression were developed considering the attitudes of the residents as a dependent variable and as independent of perceptions of the impacts of tourism, the Pearson correlation coefficient test was also applied between attitudes and support for tourism. The findings suggest that Riobamba is in the tourism destination life cycle exploration phase, with limited tourism activity due to low competitiveness by focusing on cultural and natural aspects. The attitudes of the of Riobamba´s residents are directly and significantly influenced by the impacts of tourism, and the socio-cultural impact is more important than the economic and environmental dimensions. In terms of behavior, there is a weak direct relationship between attitudes and support for tourism, so they will not be willing to support this industry in the canton. |
