Dimensión vertical en pacientes edéntulos

ABSTRAC The evaluation and the procedure for obtaining the Vertical Dimension in Edentulous Patients is an important phase in the aesthetic and functional relationships between the jaws. That is why it has been proposed as a research objective to analyze the techniques for determining the vertical dimension in edentulous patients. For this, a bibliometric study was carried out, where scientific information was collected from the electronic databases PubMed (PMC), Redalyc, Elsevier, Scielo, Dialnet, Latindex, in addition to the Publish or Perish software, from 2017 to 2021, carried out in English and Spanish, titles and abstracts were analyzed to discard unrelated articles, eliminating repeated ones. There appear to be no significant advantages of one technique over another other than cost, time, and equipment requirements. In itself it is the final result that matters, it must be satisfactory for the dentist and the patient from the aesthetic point of view, not induce degenerative changes from the functional point of view, regardless of the technique, the dentist must carefully determine the vertical dimension of the occlusion so that the process of elaboration of the total prosthesis is successful.
