Crynodeb:ABSTRAC The following bibliographic review arises after the unknown relationship between metformin used in diabetic patients and gastritis as an adverse effect, based on the inhibition of diamine oxidase by metformin itself that influences the degradation of histamine, it is known that histamine as a function The main part of the stomach is the production and secretion of gastric acid, by inhibiting this mechanism, it tends to trigger an inflammatory response and in turn a greater production of gastric acid that could lead to gastritis, for which we propose to obtain information that relates the use of metformin used as a treatment for type II diabetes with gastritis. The type of research is hypothetical-deductive since it allows us to raise a hypothesis and deduce through data collection the relationship between metformin and gastritis, the study population in the present work corresponds to 14 documents chosen from relevant scientific bases that included information on, metformin, diabetes and gastritis. The results obtained were at least one case of gastritis in each trial carried out in patients who used metformin as single and combined therapy without affinity for dose but with a greater association with other oral antidiabetic drugs, in terms of gender there was a higher incidence in men, with respect to the age in patients between 60 and 69 years, it could be shown that the adverse effects to be expected are from 24 weeks; this suggests that an association between this drug and gastritis.
