It was possible to accomplish this with the help of specialized technical personnel in patrimony and structure from GADM CHAMBO. Their expertise was used to gather information from the Information System of the Cultural Heritage of Ecuador (SIPCE) and to participate in field trips focused on data gathering such as location, building time, materials used, construction system, spatial configuration, shape, architectural style, dimensions, interventions, etc. 35 study samples were considered and classified according to construction system typology; the researcher found four types of typologies. They were analyzed to determine material properties, important construction aspects, and potential advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, the study results showed that the building material would be eucalyptus. Eucalyptus will act as a structural material for the proposed framed system; it will also be used in the roof’s truss structure. Finally, the structural proposal was validated by the ETABS structural program, yielding favorable results upon checking floor drift, vibration modes, eccentricities, etc. In addition, it was necessary to follow the stipulations set by the Ecuadorian Construction Standard. |

Finally, the structural proposal was validated by the ETABS structural program, yielding favorable results upon checking floor drift, vibration modes, eccentricities, etc. In addition, it was necessary to follow the stipulations set by the Ecuadorian Construction Standard.El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo por objetivo establecer una propuesta de vivienda sostenible comparando tipologías de viviendas antiguas de interés patrimonial versus actuales en el cantón Chambo, para crear un modelo estructural estable con características combinadas y haciendo uso de las ventajas de las tipologías de viviendas tanto patrimoniales como actuales cumpliendo con los requerimientos para una alta zona sísmica, sin dejar de lado la identidad local y satisfaga las necesidades de sus habitantes. Se pudo llegar al objetivo con ayuda del personal técnico especializado en el área patrimonial y estructural del GADM CHAMBO, mediante la información cargada en el Sistema de información del Patrimonio Cultural del Ecuador SIPCE, y salidas de campo necesarias para la recolección de información como ubicación, tiempo en el cual fue edificado, materiales empleados, sistema constructivo, configuración espacial, forma, estilo arquitectónico, dimensiones, intervenciones, etc. Se consideró 35 muestras de estudio, las cuales fueron clasificadas de acuerdo a su tipología considerando el sistema constructivo, obteniendo cuatro tipologías distintas. Cada tipología fue analizada considerando las propiedades de los materiales, aspectos constructivos importantes además de las ventajas y desventajas que presentan. Como resultado del estudio se determinó que el material empleado en la propuesta de vivienda será la madera de eucalipto mismo que actuará como material estructural a emplear en el sistema aporticado planteado, además de utilizarse en la estructura cerchada que conforma la cubierta.
