| description | Lean Construction is a philosophy than is oriented in the management of construction projects following the principles of continuous improvement, whose main objective is to reduce or eliminate activities that do not add value and optimize the activities that do, showing results in a decrease of the cost, an increase of the quality and a reduction in the term of delivery of the constructions. The tools of this philosophy have been implemented in the construction of buildings, housing and mining. However, in pavement infrastructure projects, little has been investigated. The purpose of the present research work is to identify the wastes in the paving construction processes applying the Lean philosophy. For this purpose, a comparative analysis was carried out between two companies dedicated to road construction to evaluate the waste generated. Field data were taken daily through the recording of videos and forms records. The results of this study confirm that the processes are affected by the same causes as in other types of construction projects, although to a lesser extent, as the road works present more productive work due to the effect of the continuous flow system characteristic of these works. The way in which the production system affects loss reduction requires further study. |

The way in which the production system affects loss reduction requires further study.: Lean Construction es una filosofía que se orienta en la gestión de proyectos de construcción siguiendo los principios de la mejora continua, cuyo objetivo principal es reducir o eliminar las actividades que no agregan valor y optimizar las actividades que sí lo hacen, evidenciándose resultados en una disminución del coste, un aumento de la calidad y una reducción en el plazo de entrega de las construcciones. Las herramientas de esta filosofía han sido implementadas en la construcción de edificios, viviendas y minería. Sin embargo, en proyectos de infraestructura de pavimentos es poco lo que se ha investigado. El propósito de la presente investigación es identificar los desperdicios en los procesos constructivos de pavimentación aplicando la filosofía Lean. Para el efecto se realizó un análisis comparativo entre dos empresas dedicadas a construcciones viales para evaluar los desperdicios generados. Se tomaron datos en campo diariamente mediante la grabación de videos y registros de formularios. Los resultados de este estudio confirman que los procesos son afectados por las mismas causas que en otros tipos de proyectos de construcción, aunque en menor porcentaje, pues las obras viales presentan mayor trabajo productivo debido al efecto del sistema de flujo continuo característico de estas obras.
