Тойм:Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease whose clinical expression is systemic, mainly affecting the respiratory system; as a disease it generates high rates of functional disability. It has a defined therapeutic scheme for years; however, in recent years, cases diagnosed with the disease resistant to antimicrobials prescribed as part of the therapeutic scheme for the disease have increased. The objective of this research was to carry out a bibliographic review to obtain updated information on the management of patients diagnosed with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. With the purpose of fulfill the research objective, a basic, descriptive, documentary, and cross-sectional investigation was carried out that consisted of a non-systematic bibliographic review. As a universe, 89 documents were identified, of which 44 were part of the research sample. The information was collected from articles published in regional (Latindex, Lilacs, Scielo, and Redalyc) and high-impact (Scopus, Medline, PubMed, and Ice Web of Science) databases. The main results include the description of the clinical and diagnostic characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis and the main schemes used in the treatment of the disease. These results facilitated the design of a sequential scheme of drugs to be used in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and drug resistance. It is concluded that in recent years there has been an increase in antimicrobial resistance in patients with tuberculosis; for this reason, there are therapeutic alternatives for drug resistance.
