Cancer is the second cause of death in America. In Ecuador, the risk of developing cancer before the age of 75 is approximately 20%. Constituting a significant public health problem with a high growth trend; for this reason, it is necessary to know the form of family adaptation in the treatment of a patient with a medical diagnosis of cancer. A documentary-type study was carried out to identify the factors that affect the patient and the family member during the disease process. It was based on a descriptive, comparative, and analytical bibliographic review, selecting various scientific-based documents such as Scielo, Scopus, books, theses, web pages. Familiar Adaptation from Callista Roy's model in patients receiving outpatient cancer treatment, the data analysis was carried out in two stages. First, data on the subject, author, objectives, and methodology of interest related to the content of the study were identified. In the second, a review and analysis of the articles that are connected to the study argument were carried out. |

In the second, a review and analysis of the articles that are connected to the study argument were carried out.La adaptación familiar es el resultado del proceso en respuesta a la crisis y la acumulación de demandas, poniendo en marcha mecanismos de autorregulación que le permitirán seguir funcionando como tal, contribuyendo en gran medida a recuperar la salud emocional de la persona que padece cáncer, pues deben enfrentarse a diferentes problemas que van desde lo psicológico, social y económico. El cáncer es la segunda causa de muerte en América, en Ecuador, el riesgo de desarrollar cáncer antes de los 75 años, es de aproximadamente un 20%, constituyendo un importante problema de salud pública, con una tendencia elevada de crecimiento; por esta razón es necesario conocer la forma de adaptación familiar en el tratamiento de un paciente con diagnóstico médico de cáncer, con el objetivo de identificar los factores que afectan al paciente y al familiar durante el proceso de la enfermedad.
