Shrnutí:This research project identifies the prevalence of caries and its impact on the quality of life in children at "Tomás Oleas" Educational Unit, Cajabamba canton. The research analyzes the quality of life dimensions and the possible relationships establishments between the children’s life quality and their dental caries by means of the CPOD and ceod index respectively. The sample consisted of 97 clinical histories and quality-of-life questionnaires which were applied to a group of school children aged from 8 to 10 in fourth to sixth years at fundamental education. The sample was, therefore, intentional and non-probabilistic. As a result, it was determined that there was no statistically significant relationship between the presence of cavities and the quality of life of the schoolchildren. It was concluded that despite of the high prevalence of caries in the population, it does not influence the children’s life quality. In fact, their oral health perception is considered good regardless of cavity pathology presence. To sum up, there was no association or statistically significant relationship (p=0.58) between caries and the quality of life of the mentioned studied children.
