| Riassunto: | Knee arthroplasty is a surgical procedure used in cases of severe osteoarthritis, and postoperative rehabilitation continues to be a challenge in patients with unsatisfactory results. Virtual reality is an innovative tool in physical therapy, enabling sensory and motor interaction in virtual environments that promote motor learning and treatment adherence. The purpose of this study is to detail the existing scientific evidence on the use of virtual reality as a physical therapy treatment in patients with knee arthroplasty, identifying its reported results, to provide a solid basis for future research and implementation of this technology in clinical settings and to promote functional recovery of the knee. Methodology is based on A documentary, bibliographic, descriptive, inductive, retrospective research study was conducted. Twenty-one randomized scientific articles were analyzed, selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) criteria. As a result, virtual reality improves physical function, balance, muscle strength, pain management, range of motion, and increases motivation. This intervention proved to be effective as a complement to conventional physical therapy. To conclude, virtual reality-based physical therapy is an innovative tool for optimizing post-knee arthroplasty rehabilitation, although further research is needed to standardize protocols and validate its long-term effectiveness. |
