| Zusammenfassung: | This research examined how breaks in reality and qualitative leaps occur in Gabriel García Márquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, constructing a narrative universe in which reality and fantasy blend, giving rise to constant breaks in logic. These breaks with reality are literary elements that reflect the mythical, cyclical, and magical vision of Latin America. Likewise, the qualitative leaps mark radical transformations in the history or destiny of the novel's characters, responding to abrupt temporal and social changes. The methodology employed a qualitative approach and was therefore based on content analysis, in which the unit of analysis breaks with reality and qualitative leaps are analyzed. The conclusion identifies the narrative elements in One Hundred Years of Solitude, demonstrating that breaks with reality are not only stylistic devices but also part of magical realism. This is evident in extraordinary events such as Úrsula's longevity, the endless rain, or the ascension of Remedios la Bella, which are integrated into the daily life of Macondo. Likewise, the qualitative leaps that mark the story's transformations were identified, such as the arrival of the railroad and the town's transition from isolation to modernity. This reveals Macondo's evolution from prosperity to decline. |
