Summary: | Social networks are a powerful tool when establishing communication processes in different contexts, be it at work, school, family, or personally. The research "The impact of social networks on the academic performance of seventh-year EGB students, classroom "B," from the "Combatientes de Tapi" educational unit in Riobamba city on the academic year 2021 – 2022". The main objective is to describe the relationship between social networks and academic performance. The methodology used has a qualitative-quantitative focus, descriptive type; the design is non-experimental, as a technique, the survey and as a data collection instrument, the structured questionnaire that has applied to the study sample of 64 people, between parents and students. The results obtained from the students analyze that 40.6% use WhatsApp, which is the most used. They also access social networks within the educational institution and reach a high average. Another essential aspect collected is the frequency of access to social networks, which exceeds 3 hours a day. From the parents, it was possible to obtain that the most used social networks are: 28.1% use TikTok, next to Facebook, 90.7% of students use social networks for 3 to 5 hours daily. It demonstrates the influence of social networks on students' academic development, making this work a premise for future research. |
