Zusammenfassung:ABSTRACT The prescription of NSAIDs in dental treatment is a responsible act that is entrusted to health personnel for administering medications that goes hand in hand with the correct diagnosis and choosing the appropriate treatment, whether general or specialized in the dental area, depending on the case presented in private and public consultation. The objective was to categorize the prescription of NSAIDs in dental treatments by means of a review of the literature. A documentary analysis of the literature was carried out in different scientific databases such as: PubMed, Elsevier and Scielo, the criteria of inclusion, exclusion, filters, average citation count (ACC) and impact factor according to the Scimago Journal Ranking (SJR) were applied where 55 articles were chosen for the analysis process. It was determined that dental treatments requiring surgery for extractions, periodontal procedures or implantology are more invasive processes and require the prescription of NSAIDs to control postoperative pain and inflammation. It is concluded that the drugs with the highest degree of prescription in the dental area in treatments such as tooth extractions, major or minor surgeries, periodontal procedures, implant placement and pulp conditions are: ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac in combination with paracetamol or corticoids. These drugs have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet properties. It has been shown that more than fifty percent of people consume NSAIDs to the point of self-medicating in order to stop the discomfort and inflammation.
