Análisis histórico y memoria del levantamiento indígena en el año de 1990 en la cuidad de Riobamba.

This research aims to develop a historical analysis and memory of the indigenous uprising in 1990 in the city of Riobamba. This uprising was important to consolidate the rights, territoriality, and multinationality of a culture that felt isolated in the 1990s. Their struggle was reflected in the social and political consequences of active participation in a democratic state. The documentary-type qualitative approach was used to carry out the study. In addition, information was collected through documents, digital books, websites, and documentary videos, which helped to analyze the importance of the indigenous mobilizations. Once the investigative work is completed, it is concluded that the causes of the uprising were due to a history of repression by the different governments suffered for several years and, above all, to attend to the needs of the indigenous peoples expressed in the 16 points of the mandates to life and land rights. This fact had positive effects because they had more visibility in politics and society after the dialogue with the government.
