Резюме:Technological development has meant an increase in the number of jobs which demand a greater proportion of cognitive than physical abilities. This makes the evaluation of the mental load at present a central aspect in the research and development of work systems that allow higher levels of comfort, satisfaction, efficiency and safety at work. The main purpose of this research was to determine a model for establishing the incidence of the mental workload in the job performance of the workers of the company CONALVISA in Riobamba city, in the year 2016. For this purpose, applied research was used as a methodology, as it was based on the previous basic analysis and with the proposal gave solution to the problem. For the level was descriptive and experimental, since through the study of the problem the solution was sought which emphasizes quantitative aspects for the detected problem. Finally, by the method was qualitative, since part of a general theme to define the solution of the problem as it progresses in the development of research. When applying the mental workload and job performance test, a reliability test was performed to establish the construct of the instrument, so a Cronbach's alpha of 0.818 for mental workload and 0.882 for job performance was established, that gives the assurance that the test applied is very good for this research environment. With the analysis, it was possible to demonstrate that the mental workload affects on the job performance of the workers and a new model was determined as investigative contribution. To mitigate or prevent the presence of the mental workload, one of the necessary tools is the application of alternative therapies such as yoga exercises (meditation) and active pauses, which reduces the mental workload levels and improve work performance as can be determined in the comparison of means of the hypotheses tested. Another of the tools is the application of a good practices plan in the organization of work, which improves interpersonal relationships between workers and raises production indexes in the company.
