| Zusammenfassung: | The peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is a skinny, soft, flexible tube that is usually inserted into the basilic and cephalic veins, where the tip empties into the superior vena cava. In addition, it is considered the vascular access of first choice in critically ill neonates who require long-term intravenous therapies, as it provides safe vascular access, avoids painful multiple punctures, has better cost-benefit, and has a low complication rate. The present study was developed to determine nursing interventions in inserting and maintaining the percutaneous route in neonates. It was carried out a descriptive bibliographic review type documentary research by searching for information in different databases: Scielo, Redalyc, Repositorios, Latindex, Elsevier, Editorial Ciencias Médicas, Medigraphic, National Library of Medicine, by doing a non-probabilistic sampling based on Inclusion criteria: free full-text articles, without language restriction, scientific recognition, published between the years 2019-2024. In conclusion, nursing interventions in inserting and maintaining the PICC in neonates are essential to guarantee the safety, effectiveness, and quality of care; these interventions cover a broad spectrum of actions, from the preparation of the patient and the equipment to constant monitoring and management of possible complications. Thus, the essential care is using an aseptic technique, the correct choice of the insertion site depending on the needs of the neonate, the correct follow-up of protocols, and maintenance care of the percutaneous catheter. |
