| Özet: | The present research addressed learning styles that refer to the ways in which people process and retain information, finding some models of learning styles, among which is the VARK model (visual, auditory, reading/writing, kinesthetic). , the Kolb model (convergent, divergent, assimilator, accommodator) and the Honey and Mumford model (active, reflective, theoretical, pragmatic), since each person has their own learning style and should benefit from adapting an appropriate approach to make the most of their strengths. A literary review of learning styles was carried out with a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature. The present study was to determine the relationship between learning styles and academic performance in third-year high school students at “Juan Francisco Yerovi Educational Unit” through a methodology with a mixed approach with a bibliographic study since the situation in the country due to the COVID19 pandemic In-person classes were suspended, after 2 years, and as of February 7, 2022, they returned with 100% capacity in basic and high school institutions. The situation of the students required an analysis of academic performance focused on learning styles to maximize resources and thus improve the teaching-learning process. The data was obtained from report cards and portfolios of a population of 87 students enrolled in the period. 2021-2022, and we worked with an intentional non-probabilistic sample of 30 students. The topic allowed us to identify the dominant learning styles in the students, thus establishing a Theoretical - reflective style, which was based on the teaching work and the improvement of the learning process in the students, who after applying strategies related to the style of learning. It was possible to improve the scores of the subjects between 7 and 8 points, finding a correlation between the learning style and the academic performance of the students. In short, learning styles are an interesting and useful way to understand how people process and retain information. Although there are debates about their effectiveness, in teaching they can be a valuable tool to help people learn effectively. |
