Sumario:Emotional dependence is an excessive need to receive affection from another person, which limits people's autonomy and personal growth. It is usually characterized by a strong need for attention and validation, especially from a partner, as well as low selfesteem, fear of abandonment, and difficulty establishing limits. Furthermore, this dependency is associated with intimate partner violence, which includes any behavior that causes physical, psychological, or sexual harm in a relationship. These behaviors can manifest as physical attacks, such as beatings, psychological abuse, and isolation from friends and family, and can even lead to death. The objective of this research was to analyze emotional dependence and intimate partner violence in the adult population through a bibliographic review. The research corresponds to a bibliographic review and descriptive level. Twenty-one articles were found using the prism methodology collected over the last 10 years through databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Pubmed, and Scielo. The bibliographic review form and the CRF-QS scale were used to evaluate the articles' methodological quality. Among the main results, it was identified that psychological and physical violence are the most prevalent in adult couples. It is concluded that emotional dependence is directly related to violence in the couple, given that people with a fear of loneliness or abandonment tend to tolerate or experience situations of violence within the relationship more frequently.
