Therefore, a study was done to find out and determine the level of acceptance that the practice of the alternative medicine has in the population of the urban area of the city of Riobamba, in the period January - March 2012 for that the collaboration of 40 students of the fifth year, parallel “B” of Medicine, promotion 2011-2012 was required, in a controlled manner the survey was carried out to 9,116 people in each of the urban parishes. The results show that people have certain levels of general knowledge about some techniques of alternative medicine, and a wide acceptance to put them in practice and also to have access to treatments, especially with acupuncture and homeopathy. |

Por tanto, se realizó un estudio de sondeo de opinión para determinar el nivel de aceptación que tiene la práctica de la medicina alternativa en la población de la zona urbana de la ciudad de Riobamba, en el período de enero a marzo del 2012, para lo cual se contó con la colaboración de 40 alumnos del quinto año, paralelo “B” de Medicina, promoción 2011-2012, que de manera controlada en cada una de las parroquias urbanas, encuestaron a 9116 personas. Los resultados obtenidos muestran ciertos niveles de información general de la población sobre algunas técnicas contempladas dentro de la medicina alternativa, así como una gran aceptación para que se practiquen y así poder acceder a su tratamiento, en especial, la acupuntura y la homeopatía.
