Zusammenfassung:The present research aimed to relate gastrointestinal problems with the absence of teeth in older adults through a bibliographic review. The methodology used was considered bibliographical, with scientific articles searched in high-impact databases. The bibliographic research will be carried out according to the PRISMA methodology. The results revealed that the absence of teeth is associated with various gastrointestinal difficulties, such as poor digestion, heartburn, and abdominal distension. The participants highlighted that the lack of teeth limited their ability to chew properly, which led them to modify their diets towards softer and less varied foods, thus affecting their nutritional intake. In addition, the interviewees pointed out a negative impact on their emotional well-being, since tooth loss not only affected their physical health but also their selfesteem and social participation. In conclusion, the study underlines the importance of early dental intervention in older adults to prevent digestive problems associated with tooth loss and promote a better quality of life in this population.
