description The purpose of this research is to make known the ancestral knowledge and practices that the YACHAKKUNA, wise men or healers, possess through the application of the qualitative method. The information was collected through participant observation techniques, life stories and interviews. The research concludes that, in the presence of Covid-19, the communities of Pungalá still preserve ancestral practices, since these have been part of their daily lives and as cultural resistance to the different colonialist forms that relegate the knowledge of the indigenous peoples. Indigenous villages. The YACHAKKUNA of the Pungalá parish are the characters who keep ancestral knowledge alive through the use of plants, herbs, animals and birds from the area. It is they who, with their knowledge and relationship with the cosmos, have acquired that healing power. Finally, the use of ancestral medicine, in the presence of the coronavirus, has shown that there are other alternatives to face any type of disease, demonstrating that it is effective and inexpensive for populations with low economic resources, who need these healing processes, and that they have managed to naturally restore their health.
