Hemoglobina corregida por altitud geográfica como ayuda al diagnóstico de anemia en escolares de 5-12 años de la Unidad Educativa Simón Rodríguez de Licán

Anemia is considered a pathology that occurs when hemoglobin levels are below normal values, which is why we must take into account the conditions of the patient's habitat. It is important to determine the concentration of height-adjusted hemoglobin in order to identify if patients who live in high areas suffer from anemia. A descriptive study of the concentration of hemoglobin adjusted to height in the schoolchildren of the Simón Rodríguez Educational Unit was carried out. In order to determine the hemoglobin values corrected by the geographical altitude as an aid to the diagnosis of anemia in children from 5 to 12 years of age, from first to seventh year of basic education. For the achievement of these we obtained the informed consent of the parents for the extraction of blood samples processing the samples, the results obtained were according to the unadjusted hemoglobin concentration, 7% of the girls had anemia, without report cases in children. While, for the hemoglobin corrected by CDC, Dirren and Cohen, and ferritinemia 4% vs 4.6%, 4% vs 6%, 2.6% vs 3.3%, and 3.3 vs 2.6, respectively, presented anemia. There were no statistically significant differences in the prevalence of anemia according to sex, it is concluded that it is very important to perform the correction of hemoglobin since it is often masked and does not give us the ease of having a reliable result, and was established as recommendations to carry out the ferritin test additionally since it does not undergo any type of change compared to the geographical altitude.
