| Sažetak: | The frequent use of heavy machinery from a road construction company is defined as its core of negotiation, so its road equipment maintenance workshops should have adequate methodologies to achieve high levels of competitiveness in the market. One of these methodologies is the Japanese strategy, developed in Toyota, 5S, this tool fosters a culture of self-discipline, cleanliness, organization and continuous improvement. In the town, the effects of 5S in road equipment maintenance workshops have not been studied, so the purpose of this research project was to measure the progress generated with the implementation of 5S in a local road construction using three indicators of availability of machinery and five indicators of maintenance work efficiency. 5S was developed in warehouses for spare parts, mechanics, welding and external equipment repair areas; the unnecessary supplies of the frequent use of the worker were classified, making the first S, Seiri, following the order phase, Seiton, wooden shelves were constructed to store the materials, continuing with the cleaning stage, Seiso, where they generated cleaning habits and schedules, and finally the standardization of work areas, Seiketsu. From the results obtained from this investigation, it is shown that 5S reduced the conditions that can generate an accident, created order and cleanliness habits in the maintenance processes of heavy machinery executed in the workshop and encouraged the team work of those involved. |
