Zusammenfassung:One of the most significant challenges in education is understanding how emotional factors influence students' academic performance, especially in complex subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. In this context, emotional intelligence has emerged as a key component in the comprehensive education of students, allowing them to manage their emotions, establish healthy interpersonal relationships, and maintain motivation in the face of academic challenges. This research focuses on analyzing the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance in mathematics among 9th-grade students at the “Liceo Policial de Chimborazo” Educational Unit, with the aim of identifying how emotional skills can affect academic performance. The study is based on a quantitative approach, with a correlational design, and relies on validated instruments to measure both students' emotional intelligence and academic performance. The results obtained show a positive correlation between both variables: students with higher emotional intelligence not only obtained better grades, but also demonstrated a more resilient attitude towards mistakes, a greater willingness to work collaboratively, and a more positive perception of their abilities.
