Description
Summary:At the Dentestry career of the National University of Chimborazo (UNACH), no study has been conducted of the Toxoplasma Gondii prevalence in the students, the risk factors associated to the statistics of hygiene transmission, contact with excreta, fecal oral route transmission, contact with blood and its contaminated derivatives, among others, the contagion produces Toxoplasmosis of serious consequences for the fetus, newborns, with neurological sequels throughout the life. The objective is to determine the prevalence of Toxoplasma Gondii in the students of the dentistry major at UNACH. The inductive method was applied based on the scientific method, a research with a prospective study, descriptive, explanatory field and quasi experimental study, a cross-sectional observational and descriptive study, a survey is applied to get information about the lifestyle, prior knowledge, related risk factors and the Elisa Toxo IgG method in human serum. Within the seroprevalence, it is taken of the 30% to the total population surveyed, 22% is seropositive and 78% seronegative, of the surveys applied, an acceptable level of the subject knowledge is evidenced. It concludes that, the female population is seropositive to some extent has acquired immunity, whereas seronegative the risk is greatest for the causal agent such as Toxoplasma Gondii through contagion, even more so good standars of hygiene are not applied, that can trigger life threatening consequences for the fetus or newborn.
