总结: | ABSTRACT The present research work covers the analysis of the considerations of the surgical dental treatment of patients on bisphosphonate therapy, by means of a bibliographic review of scientific articles found in databases such as Elsevier, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scielo, Scopus, Springer Link and Wiley Online Library, during the period 2010 - 2020. A total of 101 articles collected, from which selected those with an average citation count ACC, greater than 1.5, in addition to articles whose journal was in the Scimago Journal Ranking, finally obtaining 70 articles for the systematic review. The results showed that bisphosphonates are drugs that inhibit bone resorption, prevent the normal activity of osteoclasts, slowing down the loss of bone tissue and the risk of fractures; besides having an affinity for areas of active bone turnover such as the jaws, where this effect can be enhanced by infections of the mouth, treatments that involve bone chewing activity and other pathologies that increase the rate of bone turnover thus arising osteonecrosis of the jaws. With the administration of bisphosphonates, these alterations are not repaired; on the contrary, osteonecrosis of the jaws occurs. To prevent this pathology, first a thorough oral diagnosis should be avoided, performing less traumatic procedures, maintaining good oral hygiene with 0.12% chlorhexidine rinses, preventing bacterial proliferation. In addition, the type of bisphosphonate must be considered, since nitrogenous and intravenous routes are highly associated with this pathology, where there is the option of a pharmacological pause if the patient's systemic condition allows it. Keywords: tooth extraction, dental implants, bisphosphonates, osteonecrosis of the jaws. Reviewed by: Mgs. Maritza Chávez Aguagallo ENGLISH PROFESSOR c.c. 0602232324 |
