الملخص:Self-esteem and meaningful learning are essential and positive factors to promote human development fully; a high level of self-esteem will allow the person to value and accept himself as he is, being fundamental for good mental health and thus obtaining balanced emotional stability and good meaningful learning allowing the student to relate the previously acquired knowledge with the new information, since, one will never stop learning. This learning will be long term being a basis for later years. Therefore, the objective of the research was to determine the level of self- esteem and its relationship with meaningful learning of fifth-grade students of the "Leontiev Vigotsky" Educational Unit. The methodology had a quantitative approach with a non- experimental design; the population with its respective sample was composed of fifth-year students of General Basic Education at the institution mentioned above; on the other hand, informed consent was sent to the parents of the students who authorized 67 children to be applied the research instruments, for the independent variable the Coopersmith test was applied, the same that evaluates four dimensions of self-esteem: Self, Social, Home-parent and School, composed of 58 items, on the other hand for meaningful learning a survey was applied which evaluated three dimensions: Previous experiences, New knowledge, and the relationship between new and old knowledge, constituted by 12 questions valued with the Likert scale, for the processing of the data we worked with the Excel program complementing with the elaboration of tables and pies of the analysis of each question of the test and the survey. The results show that a majority group of students have a high level of self-esteem, while a minimum amount of them manifest the opposite; on the other hand, they have highly significant learning. In addition, the correlation of the variables of the study was made which it can be determined that the correlation is average; that is to say, that self-esteem does not directly influence learning, that is why teachers and parents should help children to work on self-esteem and learning so that they continue to maintain an adequate level.
