Achoimre: | The objective of this research was to determine the incidence of overweight in the self-esteem of adolescents in the second year of high school at U. E Pedro Vicente Maldonado, 2019-2020 school period. Overweight refers to a bodyweight that is greater than the normal for our height, which over time can be harmful to the body and mind; Self-esteem is an important valuation in emotional well-being, depending on this, the person can handle positively or negatively the situations that are present in their daily lives. Methodologically this study was a quantitative approach and non-experimental design, the type of research was descriptive and correlational, basic for their goals, field by the place; and the type of study was cross-sectional. The population was 209 students from second high school, the sample was intentionally non-probabilistic. The instruments used for data collection were; Psychometric test for self-esteem, Self-Esteem Inventory Coopersmith, Checklist online for variable overweight, and IBM SPSS 26 program was used for data analysis, finally established that there is a statistically bilateral correlation between the two variables. In other words, the adolescent who is overweight is more vulnerable to negative comments from society and this causes their self-esteem to be below normal and begins to deteriorate their self-love. |
