Description
Summary:Dental caries is a chronic multifactorial disease that causes demineralization and destruction of the hard tissues of the tooth. This study aimed to analyze the socio-educational aspects related to the caries index of the Waorani and Záparos nationalities in Ecuador. This research was descriptive cross-sectional with a quantitative approach, in which the observation and the survey were applied as techniques. The caries index did not show statistically significant differences with respect to the type of Amazonian indigenous nationality; as well as the caries index was associated with age. It was concluded that regardless of the type of Amazonian nationality, there was the presence of cavities, which increased with the age of the population.
