Investigación de la procalcitonina como indicador temprano de infección, su utilidad y su valor predictivo positivo o negativo en pacientes atendidos en el Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín, en el periodo de agosto 2012 enero del 2013

In the present research work on the topic " Procalcitonin as an early indicator of infection, its usefulness and positive or negative predictive value in patients treated at the hospital Carlos Andrade Marín , in the period August 2012 to January 2013 " is you will find the importance of procalcitonin as an early indicator of infection, which is a much needed test for identification of sepsis in the body, the utility that can give this test in the field of health and positive predictive value or negative in different pathologies. Our starting from the origin of procalcitonin in the body , its structure, as this acts against infection , reference values and the technique used for the determination of procalcitonin , which have fundamental value within of this dissertation. For research work used an inductive method and descriptive , by which I had as a result that procalcitonin is early indicator of infection in patients treated at the Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín in the different diseases and concludes that today procalcitonin it is one of the best early indicators of infection and therefore my recommendation is that the determination of procalcitonin should be done immediately in the case of fever of unknown origin .
