| Gaia: | The objective of this study is to analyse the management strategies of Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Salinas Ltda. during the period 2023 and to assess their impact on the level of delinquency. The analysis showed that some of the management strategies identified, such as optimising the credit assessment and approval process, teaching staff to manage risks and closely monitoring delinquent members, were adequate. However, other factors, namely the lack of segmentation in loan portfolio management and the absence of advanced technological tools, among others, limited the effectiveness of these strategies. The analysis of non-performing loans showed that despite the relevance of the chosen strategies, the increase in non-performing loans did not significantly decrease, especially with regard to the microcredit segment. Combined with the lack of preventive measures on the one hand, and the current external economic environment, with migration, unemployment, etc., which directly affected their ability to repay the loans obtained. A direct relationship between the implementation of management strategies and the level of delinquency was proven, suggesting that they can be strengthened with new strategies based on additional tools and practices to improve risk management/credit assessment. Therefore, several recommendations can be made based on the above findings regarding the financial behaviour of the cooperative: segmentation of the credit portfolio; advanced technological tools; regular trainings for members on credit responsibility. |
