| الملخص: | This research aimed to analyze the quality of drinking water in the drinking water distribution network of the urban sector of the Chambo canton. During the diagnosis phase in the Chambo canton, the supply network was inspected to detect possible sources of anthropogenic contamination, strategically selecting and georeferencing 8 sample points. Following the water quality monitoring protocol of the Ministry of the Environment and the NTE INEN 1108:2020 regulations, sampling was carried out every eight days for six weeks, taking into account accessibility, human influence, and climatic conditions and using detailed protocols and measures. . precaution in the collection and analysis of samples to evaluate water quality, by verifying that the water collection and distribution systems are in good condition. However, some users were dissatisfied with the service quality, which indicates the need to improve drinking water control techniques. Regarding the physicochemical parameters, the turbidity and color of the water exceeded the permissible limits, although other parameters such as fluorides, copper, chlorine, nitrites, and nitrates remain within acceptable ranges. In addition, fecal coliforms are detected at specific points, which are attributed to open defecation practices and livestock activity. A cleaning and disinfection program was proposed to improve water quality, which includes distribution measures and training programs to ensure adequate consumption and thus contribute to the health of the inhabitants. This proposal covers a set of measures that aim to improve the entire distribution system, complemented by training programs that ensure adequate consumption and use, thus contributing to improving the health of the inhabitants. |
