Sumario:ABSTRACT Introduction Currently, there is a high rate of adolescent pregnancies worldwide, making this a great concern in our society, as there is a recurring series of obstetric complications in this population, these risks are increasingly higher in pregnant women going through middle adolescence, considering this as a predisposing factor for the appearance of future difficulties. General objective: To identify the complications that occur in pregnant adolescents treated at the Riobamba Provincial General Teaching Hospital in the period January-October 2021. Materials and methods: A retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, this method was used to to be able to analyze the magnitude of these complications and at the same time confirm how these epidemiological variables are relative to age; On the other hand, it was a qualitative-quantitative study, (mixed) because it is in charge of evidencing the scientific part and collecting statistical results based on the medical records, revealing the total number of pregnant adolescents treated in the health home , which were 348 adolescent pregnant women, of which 64 did not present any complications, thus working with a total population of 284 pregnant women, with an age range between 14 to 19 years in the period corresponding to the period January-October 2021. Results: According to the data obtained through the medical records, it was obtained as a result that 19% of pregnant adolescents had prolonged labor, this being the most recurrent complication, in terms of perineal tears, 16% and 15% were obtained in urinary tract infection; Likewise, it was shown that 66% of adolescent pregnancies are registered in rural areas, reaching 66% of the population. Conclusions: Chronological age and physical immaturity are considered biological factors, which can cause the presence of obstetric complications in pregnant adolescents.
