Summary:ABSTRACT: The bibliographic research was developed with the objective of establishing the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic intervention in sexist violence, being necessary to identify it, categorize the therapeutic interventions oriented towards the assaulted woman, the aggressor and the relationship, describing at the same time the effectiveness of the interventions. Previous studies have demostrated the presence of the phenomenon of sexist violence, mostly by the abuser towards the woman (victim), and the interest of attention oriented to the resolution of the problem and prevention, so the question was posed: Why is psychotherapeutic intervention effective in sexist violence? The methodology considers the quantitative approach and the descriptive level, allowing to examine numerically the characteristics related to the variables: effectiveness of psychotherapeutic intervention and sexist violence; cross-sectional design, bibliographic type. A search algorithm was used to collect scientific articles from the last ten years, with reliable methodological quality and through databases such as: Dialnet, Elsevier, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scielo and Scopus. The population consisted of 572 documents and a final sample of 41 articles, using selection criteria and methodological quality assessment using the Critical Review Form-Quantitative Studies (CRF-QS) instrument. The articles belonging to the sample were analyzed through a triangulation matrix that allowed linking the approaches to psychotherapeutic intervention in sexist violence and their effectiveness in the treatment of abused women, male aggressors and dysfunctional couples. The results obtained show that sexist violence is a worldwide public health problem and that it affects a high percentage of women, with physical and psychological violence prevailing. Therefore, psychotherapeutic interventions directed towards battered women adopt different approaches considering the particularity of each case, however, several studies agree that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most used intervention, as follows: 8 out of 16 articles, being highly effective in emotional and behavioral alterations after exposure to violence. Regarding the intervention aimed at male aggressors, the results showed low effectiveness with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as follows: 5 of 9 items, while being effective in reducing violent behaviors. Finally, therapy directed at the couple showed low effectiveness; however, it should be considered as an alternative in cases of mild violence and in which both partners agree to participate in the intervention.
