Summary:San Alfonso Religious complex of Riobamba is an architectural landmark that is located in the historic center polygon Zh1, is configured by its Church, deteriorated commercial premises, disused convent and abandoned internal courtyard. The aim of this research is to generate an urban-architectural proposal where spaces will be recovered and integrated into the environment. The religious whole has lost its value and as a consequence the abandonment and the deterioration have taken possession of the good. According to the research, the change of thought of the new generations has led to these religious spaces losing their role. It presents a process of urban diagnosis, analysis of historical documents, data and presents an urban-architectural proposal of integration of the religious set with the environment, this is how guidelines were taken that helped to reconfigure the space among which it can be mentioned; zoning that responds to the new use, creation of new flows to connect the project with its immediate environment, overthrow of additions, release of enclosures to improve the pedestrian relationship project, creation of new areas to meet the needs of the sector, release and recovery of the north and south facade of the church, change of use of the internal courtyard, treatment of the fifth facade, identification of modular patterns to restore facades, and application of the concept critical recovery to differentiate heritage architecture from contemporary.
