Özet:Education in rural areas has always been a challenging issue to address. However, numerous educational centers have recently been closed in order to establish educational units that offer higher quality education. This research focuses on analyzing the repercussions resulting from the closure of rural schools through an exhaustive literature review. In order to support this research study, sources such as scientific documentation, theses, articles, and websites have been consulted to obtain a wide range of information. Subsequently, this information has been classified and utilized within the theoretical framework. To achieve the objectives of this research project, which focuses on describing the socioeconomic consequences of the closure of Antonio Ricaurte and Portete rural schools in Tarqui, a mixed methodology was employed. A descriptive study was conducted to gather information on the socioeconomic situation of families in the communities of Pepinales, Cascarillas, and Chilcapamba in relation to the school closures. The research design adopted is descriptive as it deals with a social issue within the field of social sciences. The main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the situation at hand. Different techniques were used in this research, including surveys and interviews. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire, while interviews were used to gather information about the history of school establishment in the communities. The results revealed that the socioeconomic situation of parents is concerning as they struggle to cover household expenses. Furthermore, the closure of schools in these communities has had negative repercussions on various aspects for both students and parents.
