Zusammenfassung:Oral language is a fundamental skill that children acquire in early childhood. This ability is closely linked to cognitive, educational, and social development in boys and girls, as language development facilitates communication, ideas expression, and knowledge generation. This research aimed to determine the levels of oral language development in firstyear students of Basic General Education at the "Santo Tomás Apóstol" Educational Unit in Riobamba. Methodologically, the study adopted a quantitative, non-experimental, and descriptive approach. The population consisted of 26 students who were assessed using the Preschool Language Test (TELEPRE). The results showed that the majority of students exhibited low to medium-low levels in the evaluated linguistic skills. Therefore, it is important to highlight that the identified difficulties can negatively impact learning processes, communication, social interaction, and adaptation to the school environment. Based on the results, the need to propose methodological strategies to strengthen oral language development in early education was identified. These strategies are intended for educators and parents, aiming to contribute to the child's holistic development.
