| الملخص: | Introduction: The induction of the process is indicated in patients who present high risks for the continuation of their pregnancy. Objective: This project aims to determine maternal-fetal complications when administering misoprostol for induction of full-term pregnancy without cervical ripening, in patients treated at the General Provincial Hospital Riobamba in the period May 2019 - March 2020. Materials and methods. It is a descriptive, retrospective, non-experimental, cross-sectional study carried out at the General Teaching Hospital of Riobamba in the period May 2019 - March 2020, by analyzing 365 medical records, a sample of 73 patients were taken, with a sample of 73 patients, administering misoprostol between 25 and 50 micrograms sublingually and vaginally until cervical ripening and subsequent induction of labor in term pregnancies. Results. The 365 patients with full-term pregnancy completed their pregnancy by: 235 (64%) and 130 (35.61%) vaginal deliveries. In the sample of 73 patients admitted with unfavorable Bishop, misoprostol was administered for cervical ripening and pregnancy induction, they presented maternal complications: vaginally, postpartum hemorrhage 21 (30.3 %), birth canal injury 21 (30.13 %) and cesarean section by failed induction 4 (2.73%); sublingually postpartum hemorrhage 11 (15.06%), tachysystole 5 (6.84%), cesarean section due to failed 3 (4.10%) and 3 others (4.10%). Fetal complications: compromise of fetal well-being 16 (21.91%), aspiration of meconium fluid 14 (19.17%) and without complications 43 (58.90%). Conclusions. It was possible to determine that misoprostol is used for induction of labor. However, it must be kept under medical supervision.
