Add Tag | Summary: | The research is developed in the analysis of the historical context related to the Cathedral of San Pedro de Riobamba also its group made up of the Chapel of Santa Bárbara, House of the Clergy, and the Diocese to generate a historical source with the main events that they have made the Cathedral an icon of Riobamba and a cultural Patrimony of Ecuador. This research has two stages, the first; a chronological timeline allows organizing facts and events that influenced the transformation of the Cathedral Complex, which had its origin in the old Riobamba and after the resettlement of the city would mark an influence mainly in the religious and political sphere, it was the epicenter for the growth of the town, standing out at that time for its monumentality within the profile of the city. From the compilation of historical information, eight interventions are recognized at different times; one marks a turning point in the history of the Property, it is the intervention that carried out in 1970 due to deterioration, the bodies that accompany the main facade and its reconstruction in subsequent years tries to maintain the original construction characteristics such as wall thicknesses and heights. The architectural image that the frontispiece acquires in this intervention is the image preserved to this day and influenced the construction of the Diocese of Riobamba. The second part consists of an architectural survey of the Property aimed at obtaining floors, facades, and a profile of skylines reflecting that over the years, the city loses homogeneity; however, this does not detract from the prominence of the Cathedral in its historical and patrimonial value, remaining an icon of the city and a witness to the ancient town of Riobamba |
