Özet:This study is based on a semiotic analysis of the characters Tayta San Carlos and Mama Shalva from the Majipamba community of the Colta canton. With the theoretical foundations of Charles Sanders Pierce and his approach to the analysis of the representamen, also object and interpretation of signs. This research interviews the main characters of the object of study, besides the knowledge of a cultural researcher. With the information obtained, an analysis of the main characteristics of these signs is made, such as clothing, accessories, speech, origin, and history. Finally, it is determined that these characters arose as a cult thanks to the kings of Spain. Nowadays, these characters are synonymous with liberation from the thought they were dominated by. Furthermore, they express what they cannot say or do as persons through personification. Semiotically, the analyzed aspects have an indicator of a cultural representation that corresponds to the identity of the Pawkar Raymi of this community.
