| Gaia: | ABSTRACT: Joint pain is considered one of the most frequent clinical manifestations in daily medical practice. Its intensity can lead to a decrease in the perception of quality of life related to health and functional disability. The objective of this research was to determine the presence of risk factors and associated comorbidities in patients treated for joint pain at the “Shobolpamba” dispensary belonging to the rural San Juan parish during the years 2018 to 2020 and their relationship with the perception of quality of life and functional capacity of patients. For this, a basic, retrospective, descriptive and correlational research was carried out that included a total of 321 people treated for joint pain, of which 176 constituted the research sample. Medical records were reviewed and Pearson's correlation was used to identify a relationship between the study variables. The main results showed a predominance of people with the presence of associated comorbidities (51.70%), risk factors for joint pain (57.39%), inadequate quality of life (53.41%) and without functional disability (63, 64%). It is concluded that the age of 60 years or more, the female sex, the presence of inflammatory joint pain, associated comorbidities and risk factors were elements that favored disability and inadequate quality of life. Several correlations were identified, highlighting the considerable positive correlation between functional capacity and quality of life and between the latter and the presence of comorbidities.
