Its main objective is to analyze and understand the characteristics of the cultural identity of this community, examining how it is maintained and transformed over time. The specific objectives were to determine cultural authenticity and its contribution to cultural identity, identify traditional knowledge and its role in shaping identity, and evaluate ancestral knowledge and its impact on cultural preservation. The idea to be defended is to ensure that the community of Gahuijón located in the Columbe parish of the Colta canton maintains a combination of authentic elements and traditional practices that are transmitted from generation to generation, thus strengthening its cohesion and sense of belonging. A mixed methodology was used, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. Surveys were applied to a representative sample of 50 inhabitants and in-depth interviews were conducted with two community members. In addition, historical, inductive and deductive methods were used to complement the research. The results obtained reveal that the Gahuijón community has managed to preserve a high degree of cultural identity. The inhabitants' interest in learning about and maintaining their traditions, as well as the active use of the Kichwa language, stand out. However, the research also shows cultural changes, such as the influence of evangelical Christianity in some traditional festivities. Despite these changes, the community demonstrates remarkable resilience and adaptability, maintaining a strong link to their ancestral roots and practices. The study recommends promoting active knowledge of cultural traditions and strengthening the use of Kichuwa to guarantee the continuity of Gahuijón's cultural identity. |
