Morbimortalidad asociada al Síndrome Hellp en gestantes. Hospital Carlos Andrade Marín, 2020 – 2021

ABSTRACT Introduction: HELLP syndrome is an obstetric complication related to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (preeclampsia). HELLP is characterized by the presence of hemolysis, elevated blood enzymes, and plateletopenia. However, in 15-20% of cases, it may not present proteinuria or hypertension. General objective: To establish the factors associated with morbidity and mortality in HELLP syndrome in pregnant women with Obstetric High Risk at the Obstetric service of the Carlos Andrade Marin Hospital from May 2020 to May 2021. Materials and methods: A retrospective, descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study was carried out. For this study's purpose, the researcher analyzed 30 clinical histories of pregnant women diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome at the Obstetric High-Risk Obstetrics Service of the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital from May 2020 to May 2021. The researcher used the quantitative-qualitative method. Results: Of the 30 cases studied, it was determined that 76% were within the age range of 30-45 years, in addition to being of mixed race (90%), multigestational (63%), with early gestational age (37%), singleton pregnancy (97%), with a history of hypertensive disorders (40%). Of these, the main complications in these patients were related to IUGR (23%) and acute renal failure (20%) with a morbidity ratio of 13.83% and mortality rate of 0% as there were no deaths within the period studied. Conclusions: The higher incidence of HELLP syndrome is associated with the previous history of preeclampsia, in addition to an absence in the use of acetylsalicylic acid, which prevents preeclampsia and its complications.
